    Description

Melcalin Garlic contains allium ursinum (wild garlic), which has been shown to have cardioprotective activity attributable to several factors, such as the reduction of cholesterol levels, triglycerides, increase of HDL1,6,15, the reduction in arterial pressure 1,2,3,15,16 and a significant antiplatelet effect4,5.
Most of the studies is directed to the most used Allium sativum, in them is documented efficacy in improve cholesterol values, LDL and HDL and hence its usefulness in the hypercholesterolemia therapy8,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,17; the same is also used as an adjunct in the treatment agent
    arterial hypertension7,13,15,16.
A comparison between the two varieties of garlic showed that the wild garlic is able to act on lipid parameters already at lower concentrations compared to allium sativum, suggesting that the wild garlic has greater therapeutic benefit compared with common garlic and, therefore, the properties of the sativum may also be related to the ursinum but with much higher activities and benefits2.

    Fields of application
